In partnership with DPSCD, the Detroit Change Initiative provided the students of Martin Luther King, Cody, East English, and Mumford High School with free State IDs.
Detroit Change Initiative, a pillar partner with the American Heart Association, collaborates with Sound Mind Sound Body Academy(SMSB) to create a Cardiac Emergency Response Plan (CERP) that includes CPR and AED training and Healing Heart safety. The League youth coaches and team moms of these individual organizations learn how to perform CPR and how to use an AED properly.
From Civic Education to healthcare, Detroit Change Initiative offers a variety of programs to support the community. Civic Education youth outreach provides insight into how the government impacts communities daily. And how to hold elected officials accountable.
We recruited 1723 high school students across Wayne County to become election poll workers. Students must be 16 years or older to work. Students were able to participate and learn how elections work. With nine days early now, the law DCI saw a need for our clerks to have more support.
Detroit Change Initiative 2024's impact was terrific. We made over 200,000 phone calls and texts, and with our outreach events, DCI has over 323,000 contacts with over 2600 in voter registration. Our team pushed to organize our target areas, developed relationships with them, and hired community members to do canvassing and outreach.

Campus Vote Project, the Michigan Department of State, and Wayne State University are excited to announce the 7th annual Michigan Student Voting Summit. The summit brings together college and high school students, teachers and faculty, administrators, and election officials to promote nonpartisan voter engagement.
We are recruiting high school students to become Poll Workers. To work at the polls on election day is a fantastic way to engage young people in the democratic process and foster civic responsibility. You must be 16 and older to work at the polls.
