DESCRIPTION:The City of Detroit’s Primary Elections are coming up on Tuesday\, August 5\, and I want to make sure every voter in our city is ready to show up and make their voice heard. Your vote matters and helps shape our community’s future! \nThis election is the first step in selecting our city’s leaders. Detroit’s municipal elections are officially nonpartisan\, meaning candidates are not listed by political party. The primary determines which candidates will appear on the general election ballot in November. This year\, races include mayor\, city council\, city clerk\, board of police commissioners\, and community advisory council. \nTo vote in this election\, please remember you must: \n\nBe a U.S. citizen\nBe at least 18 years old by Election Day\nBe registered to vote in Michigan\n\nIf you’re not sure whether you’re registered or need to update your information\, you can check your status at detroitmi.gov/elections \nThere are three easy ways to vote: \n\nAbsentee ballot – request and return it ASAP\nVote early at any Detroit Early Voting Center between July 26 – August 3\nIn-person – Tuesday\, August 5\n\nMake a plan now to vote and encourage your family and friends to do the same.
